Death Before Dishonor Re-Signs With Bridge Nine Records

Published by richleigh under Rock Music Edit This

Death Before Dishonor Logo
Boston based hardcore punk band Death Before Dishonor has decided to re-sign with Bridge Nine Records, and will therefore release its next album through the label, with an expected release date of late July.

Death Before Dishonor has been with Bridge Nine since 2004, and has to date released two studio albums and two 7”s through Bridge Nine. In preparation for releasing studio album number four though, Death Before Dishonor went label hunting, and the band’s Bridge Nine future was therefore put in doubt. Death Before Dishonor has ultimately decided to stick with Bridge Nine Records though, and the incredibly hard working hardcore band will be remaining a Bridge Nine artist.

Vocalist Bryan Harris had the following to say: “We really feel at home at Bridge Nine. The label has supported us since day one and when it was time to go label hunting, we heard some people out, but it was a no-brainer for us to stay with B9. They’ve seen us grow, they’ve grown with us, and in the last few years, they’ve grown to become that ‘next level’ label a band like ours would want to be on at this point in our career.

It seems that Bridge Nine Records and Death Before Dishonor have a mutual respect for one another, and Bryan Harris’ positive words were echoed by Bridge Nine Records label owner Chris Wrenn when he said that “We’re so excited that we can continue to grow with them.

It’s certainly exciting news that Death Before Dishonor has committed its future to Bridge Nine Records, and we now have little time to wait until the band releases its next album.

Death Before Dishonor will soon be heading out on a European tour with Nations Afire, and the following are the tour dates that the band presently has planned:

29.04. Magdeburg – Blow Up Club (Germany)
30.04. Niesky – Holz (Germany)

Chris Cornell Defends ‘Scream’: He’s Thrilled With it In Fact

Published by richleigh under Rock Music Edit This

Chris Cornell - ScreamSpeaking with AlternativeAddiction.com , Chris Cornell has defended his new solo album ‘Scream’. He states his belief as to why it has been badly received by some in declaring that “Older American fans don’t like it because they are typically my core fans that really supported me in Soundgarden and really loved that band”, and that they’ll therefore always see him as Chris Cornell from Soundgarden rather than Chris Cornell the solo performer, but also goes on to say that “I’m thrilled with the album that I made. I think it’s really exciting, I have listened to it as much or more than any album I have ever made”.

Clearly Chris Cornell likes his new record, and it has hit number 10 in the Billboard 200, so there are quite a lot of people buying it. Many people have been disappointed with the album though, and a number of critics have slammed ‘Scream’ including The Los Angeles Times, PopMatters.com, and even Rolling Stone. There are some positive reviews out there; there are also a lot of very negative ones though, and the general consensus seems to be that it’s a terrible shame that such a fantastic rock star as Chris Cornell has changed his musical direction so drastically.

It’s always important that artists progress and develop their style; sometimes in the eyes of their fans they can go a bit far though, and Chris Cornell’s ‘Scream’ is a definite case of this. ‘Scream’ is something completely different to what Chris Cornell has ever done before, and if you listen to the album expecting to hear classic Cornell then you’re going to be disappointed. Be open and accepting of the album’s difference though and there’s a chance that you could really quite enjoy ‘Scream’.

‘Scream’ may not be Chris Cornell’s finest work, it is something a bit different though, and an album that he’s seemingly rather proud of. Respect the album’s difference and appreciate it for what it is; it may not be like any of his other work, but that certainly doesn’t make it a bad album.

The Gaslight AnthemThe Gaslight Anthem’s ‘Great Expectations’ single is out tomorrow in the UK through SideOneDummy Records. The band also has two UK festival dates coming up in the next few months, and will be playing Hard Rock Calling in London on June 28th, followed by T In The Park in Glasgow on July 12th.

The Gaslight Anthem is a brilliant band, and ‘Great Expectations’ an absolutely fantastic track. If you live in the UK then you should most definitely do your bit in buying this one tomorrow, and in doing so you’ll be supporting a fantastically talented band.
