Make Money Writing About Music
If like me you’re a massive fan of music, then you’ll probably be interested in this opportunity to make money writing about music. Admittedly it’s not a massive amount of money, if you enjoy listening to a lot of different music though then this can be a great way of finding out about new artists that you may otherwise not have come across.
Slicethepie.com is the website that will pay you to write about music, with pay per review ranging between £0.03 and £0.10 (it’s an English website). For the first 50 reviews you write for the website you’ll be paid in vouchers which can only be used to invest in artists on the website, but after having written your first 50 reviews you’re then able to withdraw the money that you earn to your Paypal account. £5 is the minimum withdrawal amount, and when you choose to withdraw the funds will generally arrive in your Paypal account the next working day. Paypal is currently the only method of payment, so if you live in a country that does not support Paypal then you won’t be able to receive a payment, but aside from that the website is open to everyone.
As a music reviewer on Slicethepie you’ll earn the title of ‘Scout’, and can review music in the ‘Scout rooms’. There’s a 24/7 scout room which is always open (unless the website is experiencing technical difficulties which does happen from time to time), and then there are also other scout rooms which will run alongside the 24/7 room (currently there’s a Gibson UK Guitar Bands room open for those that like their rock music). There are literally thousands of bands registered on the website, and with each band having three tracks available for review; there’s therefore an incredible amount of music there to be written about.
Writing music reviews on Slicethepie is simple; you open up a scout room, press the play button, and a randomly selected track will then begin to play. You can set your genre preferences and edit them at any time, and this therefore ensures that the music you listen to will be in the genre/s of your choosing. After the first minute of the track a box will open below the music player, and you’ll then be able to write a review about the track that is playing and give the track a mark out of 10. In terms of review length I tend to write between 40 and 100 words per track, and it’s just a good fun activity to write about music and get paid for doing so.
There’s a star system in place which determines payment; 1 star scouts earn v0.10 (the voucher system I referred to earlier), 2 star scouts earn £0.03 per review, 3 stars scouts earn £0.05 per review, 4 star scouts earn £0.07 per review, and 5 star scouts earn £0.10 per review. The actual amounts paid are subject to change, but at the time of writing this; these are the rates that are currently being offered. There are several different factors which determine how many stars you’ll have such as accuracy of rating compared with what others have rated, number of tracks reviewed, length of review, and it’s also essential to make full use of the scoring system (using the full 0-10 scale). There are some 5 star scouts on the website, most people however tend to have between 2 and 4 stars.
If you love listening to music then Slicethepie is definitely a great website to join. Reviewing music on Slicethepie will not make you a millionaire; it is a nice way of picking up a bit of loose change in your spare time though, and whilst finding out about many different unsigned artists you’ll also be making a bit of money in the process. You can review as much or as little music as you like, and having been a member of the website for about nine months now I’ve discovered a lot of great bands that I probably wouldn’t otherwise have encountered.
Slicethepie is a website that I highly recommend for all fans of music, and if you’d like to get paid for doing what you love and listening to new music then you can’t go far wrong with Slicethepie.
This is a great site. It is possible to make quite a bit on slicethepie if you put in the hours.
