Orange unsignedAct 2008

Glasgow based Rock/Indie band Hip Parade is into the finals of Orange unsignedAct 2008, and will now fight it out with Tommy Reilly and Scarlet Harlots for a record deal with Universal. Exact details of the prize can be found at the Orange unsignedAct website ; basically though, it’s very exciting stuff for these three unsigned artists, and for whichever of the three wins – it really will be a dream come true.

Hip Parade is the band I’d like to see take the prize; all of the band’s tracks are incredibly catchy, and I just feel that if the band can win, then the four lads from Glasgow have a very exciting future ahead of them in music. Hip Parade has what it takes to go far, I really do believe in this band, and as well as creating brilliant music – all four of them have fantastic personalities to match, too.

Some of Hip Parade’s tracks can be heard at the band’s official MySpace page , and I’d actually recommend taking a listen to any of them as they’re all excellent.

Let’s not forget Tommy Reilly and Scarlet Harlots here though; Tommy Reilly a solo artist from Glasgow, and Scarlet Harlots a hard to define sort of punky breakbeat band – they call it Punk-Step over at their MySpace page, and I guess that’s a pretty decent way of describing it really.

Bo Bruce and Toby Sebastian were knocked out at the semi-final stage, and it’s now down to these three artists to try and impress all in the final. I believe it’s between Hip Parade and Scarlet Harlots now, Tommy Reilly could perhaps still pull it out of the bag – I feel that Hip Parade and Scarlet Harlots have hit singles already there though, and that this will therefore give them the edge going into the final.

All three of these artists have done fantastically well to get this far, and it’ll no doubt be a huge week for them all, trying to win as many votes in the next seven days as possible. Next Sunday the winner of Orange unsignedAct 2008 will be announced, it’ll all be over, and one lucky currently unsigned artist will be snapped up by Universal.

The phone lines will be open all week, and details about how to vote for your favourite can be found here . Lines will close on January 25th after the final show is over, and all I have left to say of the matter is; may the best man/men win.
