Arm Injury for Pete Doherty Forces London Show Cancellations

Pete DohertyPete Doherty should have been playing three dates at London’s Rhythm Factory this weekend; from Sunday through to Monday. Doherty called at the last minute to cancel however, informing the venue that he wouldn’t be able to make it due to an injury to his arm.

The London shows have now been moved, and Pete Doherty will instead be performing at the venue on January 8th, 9th, and 10th. It’s sure to come as a huge disappointment to those that were due to be attending, at least the dates have only been put back a couple of weeks though, and all fans will soon be able to grab their next Pete Doherty fix.

Pete Doherty has quite a history of pulling out of gigs and tours; this latest cancellation should therefore come as no great surprise to fans, but the fact that the three dates have been rescheduled to be played so soon is at least some consolation.

Check out the Rhythm Factory website for a full list of all future planned dates to be played at the venue.

Weezer Would Like to Wish You a Merry Christmas Through the Medium of Song - Listen to Weezer’s Christmas Song

Published by richleigh under Rock Music Edit This

Christmas With WeezerCalifornian rock band Weezer has recorded a cover version of popular Christmas carol ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’. The track is a part of the band’s ‘Christmas with Weezer’ EP which is available now through iTunes and Amazon digital download service.

It’s a good fun track, very upbeat, and the band really injects a lot of life into the music. At only a minute and 25 seconds long; it’s certainly not the longest Christmas cover you’ll ever find, it’s definitely a very good one though, and a great track to really get you into the Christmas spirit.

Whether you’re usually a fan of Christmas carols or not; I’m sure you’ll love this supreme Christmas cover from Weezer.

Weezer’s ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ is a must hear Christmas carol cover, so click the play button below right now to give the song a little listen, and the video even comes complete with lyrics just in case you’re wishing to sing along.

RockNess Headline Acts Confirmed

RockNess LogoIt has been confirmed that Basement Jaxx, Dizzee Rascal, The Prodigy, and Biffy Clyro will all be headlining the RockNess music festival next year. The festival is all set to take place from June 12th until June 14th, and will be held at Dores in Scotland, which is situated 8.8km away from Loch Ness.

The full line-up is yet to be confirmed, the headline acts have been however, and tickets are already available to order. Including booking fee; a three day festival ticket with camping included will set you back £148.75 from Ticketline.co.uk.

RockNess is likely to consist of a pretty powerful line-up next year, and given the quality of the headline acts already to have been announced; you can rest assured that if you attend the festival, you’ll be in for a good time. The Prodigy always put on an absolutely excellent live show, and Biffy Clyro also is another band that is definitely well worth seeing.

RockNess may not turn out to have the best line-up of the 2009 festivals; I feel that it could be one of the most fun though, and with the headline acts alone there is already more than enough talent lined up to satisfy all. Attend RockNess 2009 for a music festival experience to remember.

The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die Review (Single)

Published by richleigh under Reviews Edit This

The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die‘Invaders Must Die’ is the title track of the forthcoming fifth studio album from The Prodigy, an album which is to be released on March 2nd 2009 through Take Me to the Hospital Records and distributed by Cooking Vinyl. It’s the band’s eighteenth ever single release, and on November 26th the track was made available to download completely for free from the band’s official website for one week only.

The first time I heard the track I was really quite impressed with what I heard from the band; with repeated listen’s however and the track began to grow on me more and more. Fusing rock guitar sounds and supreme electronic beats, ‘Invaders Must Die’ is a really powerful piece of music; simple, and yet also incredibly effective. The synth sound is strong, and everything about the track just seems to fit together incredibly well. Not one single element of the track is lacking, and everything about the music just makes you want to get up and dance.

The music is infectious, the beat gets stuck in your head straight away, and come March when the album is finally released; ‘Invaders Must Die’ will no doubt still be engraved firmly in my mind. There’s a powerful rock stomp about the track, and whilst you listen to the music you just get an image of millions walking the streets, oblivious to the world with ‘Invaders Must Die’ blasting from their headphones. It’s a truly incredible piece of music, and gives me much hope for when the ‘Invaders Must Die’ album is released in March.

‘Invaders Must Die’ will be the first studio album since 1997s ‘The Fat of the Land’ to feature all three members of the band, and having not really been a fan of 2004s ‘Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned’; I’m pleased that Liam Howlett has once more brought Keith Flint and Maxim Reality onboard to provide the full flavour of The Prodigy.

Bring on the album, as the title track is excellent.

Rating: 4.5/5

Katy Perry Not Engaged After All

Published by richleigh under Rock Music Edit This

Katy Perry announced on her blog today that she’s not engaged to Travis McCoy after all. The NY Daily News had yesterday broken the story that the couple had become engaged, but Katy Perry’s blog today suggests otherwise.

“You should fact check with the source before you spread worldwide news like that” says Katy Perry on her blog. The couple were rumoured to have become engaged in the summer when Travis McCoy gave Katy Perry a promise ring, and yesterday the rumour once more spread. Katy Perry is not engaged to Travis McCoy though, and with her blog she wishes all a ‘Merry Christmas!’.

Katy Perry is thankful of the free press, the story of the engagement is untrue though, and you can read it from the horse’s mouth here .
