Nickelback is perhaps one of the world’s most hated bands, lead singer Chad Kroeger takes a lot of stick, and so does the band as a whole in fact. Commercial rock bands will always get targeted by some, Nickelback get more than their fare share of abuse however, and I don’t feel that all of it is really entirely justified.

Yes, Nickelback is a huge band, and has had several hugely commercially successful singles over the years; that doesn’t make them a bad band though, just shows that the music has mass commercial appeal. ‘Gotta Be Somebody’ is the latest track to have been released by the band, a four minute rock track taken from the band’s sixth studio album ‘Dark Horse’.

‘Gotta Be Somebody’ is a really strong rock track, it has an epic chorus, a powerful guitar presence, and the vocal tone of Chad Kroeger is always absolutely excellent. I am not the world’s biggest Nickelback fan, I do however have a fond appreciation for ‘Gotta Be Somebody’ and feel that it’s perhaps the best track the band has ever written. Credit where credit’s due; Nickelback has really produced a top quality rock single in the form of ‘Gotta Be Somebody’.

On November 16th the track hit number 26 in the UK charts on the basis of downloads alone, and when the track was released in the US it actually hit a high of number 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. ‘Gotta Be Somebody’ has the potential to be a really huge single for Nickelback, perhaps not as popular as 2001s ‘How You Remind Me’, but I still feel that this is a track we’ll be hearing for many more months/years to come.

‘Gotta Be Somebody’ is an excellent rock single from Nickelback and I strongly recommend it to all; give the track a listen and see what you think, it’s a powerful piece of rock music and I’m sure you’ll be impressed with what you hear.
