Fall Out Boy Sets New Radio Interview Record

On October 31st; Fall Out Boy band members Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump aimed to set a new Guinness World Record for most radio interviews ever conducted within a 24 hour period. 57 was the magic number they had to beat, they had to undertake at least 58 radio interviews within a 24 hour period and would begin their mission in Los Angeles at 3am local time.
Were they successful though? Did they manage to reach this ambitious target of 58? Unequivocally, yes; Wentz and Stump actually smashed the record by conducting a grand total of 72 radio interviews within a 24 hour period.
Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz therefore believe that they’ve set a new Guinness World Record, they’ll have to wait for the final certification to come through yet but confidence is high that the record will stand and that the previous record has been well and truly put to bed. The previous record was set in May 2008, Wentz and Stump went 15 better than the record of old however and showed fine skill, drive, and determination in fitting 72 radio interviews into a single 24 hour period.
This was actually the second record that the band had attempted to set; in March 2008, Fall Out Boy made plans to perform a concert in Antarctica, making them the first ever band to play all seven continents in less than nine months. The date was set and it was intended that the Antarctic concert would be played on March 25th, due to bad weather conditions the band was forced to cancel the show however and that world record dream therefore went astray. You can’t fault the band’s persistence though, and seven months later the band has chased down another world record and this time clinched it in supreme style.
Fingers crossed that the final certification comes through okay and that Fall Out Boy’s Guinness World Record is soon officially confirmed.
What fun!
Bet they enjoyed themselves.
