New Lead Singer For Led Zeppelin?

Published by richleigh under Rock Music Edit This

According to Billboard.com , Myles Kennedy is the man most likely to replace Robert Plant on vocal duties when Led Zeppelin next takes to the road on tour. In the past Myles Kennedy was approached by highly popular and much talented rock guitarist Slash to audition for the position of Velvet Revolver lead singer, on this occasion Kennedy refused the role however, but he’s certainly no stranger to performing with bands who have parted ways with their vocalist. Alter Bridge has been Myles Kennedy’s most recent project; a band he fronts with what was formerly three quarters of the post-grunge rock band Creed.

If Robert Plant refuses to tour with his fellow Led Zeppelin bandmates then it’s now thought that Led Zeppelin will still hit the road, but with Myles Kennedy taking on the vocal role that would have been Robert Plant’s. The biggest issue here will be whether or not the band keeps the Led Zeppelin name under the leadership of Myles Kennedy; fans would surely not take too kindly to a Led Zeppelin which does not feature Robert Plant, and if the band does indeed tour with Myles Kennedy then this is something that will need to be taken into consideration.

A new Led Zeppelin tour is a very exciting prospect and whether the band features Robert Plant or not, the tour is still sure to be excellent. Robert Plant present in the line-up would give the tour heightened authenticity and appeal, if he does not wish to tour with the band however then I see no reason why the band shouldn’t take to the road with someone else, whether it be Myles Kennedy or otherwise; if Jimmy Page, Jason Bonham, and John Paul Jones wish to tour then they should.

Fans are likely to be split over this whole issue; there will be some that won’t wish to see a Led Zeppelin without Robert Plant, others however will just embrace the fact with open arms that Led Zeppelin will once more be touring, regardless of who the front man may happen to be. Although there has as yet been no official confirmation, it looks as though Myles Kennedy could well become the new lead singer for Led Zeppelin.
